Basic Info

As you already know, we are a troupe of performers, all of them dedicated to physical theater. This group was founded at the Mensa ČR 2009 Summer Camp, and has over the time that it has existed taken in a few performers, who we are proud to call our colleagues and fellow actors. We are a troupe with no financial earnings, and we are glad to be sponsored by Mensa ČR. The center of most of our events and activities are in Prague, but because some other members are scattered in other regions of the Czech Republic, we would like to organize events eventually outside the capital.

Our first show called Control(s) was first performed January 2010. At the moment, we're working on two other shows, "Elements" and "The Venetian Night", and other smaller shows are in progress as well.

Every week we have (just for the Troupe) training sessions in Prague, where we dedicate ourselves to the study of physical theater, juggling, circus techniques, singing, spontaneous dancing, and other crazy stuff. About once a month we organize workshops for the public, where you can learn tons of stuff (for example: belly dancing, didgeridoo, drum playing, poi twirling, capoeira, etc.) Our group, thematically based on the theories of Theatrical Anthropology, is open to new influences, ideas and inspiration. So we eagerly learn from any talented person, who might just cross our path. To top it all up, about four times a year, we organize a very intense training period (for members of the Troupe only) where we have the chance to finish a play or a piece, that we are working on… We are organizing a VERY intense period in the Summer Holidays, whose main aim will be for members to acquire new skills. This should reflect on all plays, and pieces done by us in Autumn 2010, inspired by the movement of the "New Circus". The Improvised Circus also organizes workshops and programs at different conventions, held mainly in Prague. We've already successfully organized programs on Conventicon 2009, Pragocon 2010, Advíklink into a new tab 2010 and we're preparing for Conventiconlink into a new tab 2010. On the Mensa ČR summer campslink into a new tab we had filled the Theater program section.

The Improvised Circus is quite closely associated with the fire show group called BRIGHTER THAN A THOUSAND SUNS (with several of it's members in it).

Unfortunately, for reasons of capacity, the Improvised Circus is not "recruiting" any members at the moment, but if you are interested to join, please don't hesitate to come to any of our workshops. The Improvised Circus has also started organizing workshops for other theatrical troupes and the general public - if you are interested, please visit the Workshops section.

If you want to contact us, please write to info@improvizovanycirkus.cz

Also, you can find us on Facebooklink into a new tab !
